In 1973, Maserati was ready to enter Le Mans with the Bora in the Gran Turismo class. Its competition would certainly have been similar to that of the Ferrari Daytona, which had won in 1972. Maserati needed to sell 500 Bora units to achieve homologation for the 1973 competitions, which they obviously did not accomplish. Furthermore, the Bora Competizione did not meet the standards for other classes (Bora GR4 or Bora Group 4), and therefore it never reached the starting grid. As a result, this car was lost in the archives of mysterious cars from the 1970s.
